Liz Gilbert
I grew up dancing in Casper, WY at a very young age, starting with Ballet and slowly adding other styles throughout the years. After graduating High School I attended Casper College where I graduated with my Associates of Arts in Dance, then moved to Laramie, WY where I attended University of Wyoming. During my time at UW, I continued to develop my choreography and teaching knowledge and learned a handful of other skills through the Theatre and Dance program. After graduating with my Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance from the University of Wyoming, I moved back home where I started my teaching and administration journey. I have had the pleasure of teaching for many different studios throughout Wyoming and North Dakota, worked in an administrative capacity for non profit dance studios over the past ten years, and have been given the opportunity to teach at the collegiate level at Casper College and University of North Dakota.
What is your favorite memory during a performance or a class?
The memory that sticks with me the most was during our tour for University of Wyoming’s Continuous Momentum. We performed at a Women’s Correctional Facility and the experience was the most fulfilling thing I have ever felt. The women were extremely appreciative for our visit and it filled our hearts hearing their stories and thanks for bringing them our gift of dance, especially close to the holidays.
What dance genre is you favorite?
I really enjoy teaching ballet because of its structure and technique, but my favorite style is tap. Tap is such a different beast when it comes to technique, style, and mentality, plus it’s just fun to make noise!
What do you always have to bring to the studio with you?
I always bring water to the studio as well as my laptop so I can always be prepared with music and information.
